Perhaps the cruellest thing about this summer is how impossible it has been to secure a ticket

If there’s one thing you can always be sure of, it is that Taylor Alison Swift will never disappoint. The Eras Tour might just be the event of the year, with Swifties all around the world joining together to pay homage to the star’s ground-breaking career. Each night is a dazzling celebration of music, passion and unadulterated joy – but also, undeniably, a spectacular display of fashion, with each show becoming a Met Gala of its own as fans rush to dress up for the once-in-a-lifetime experience.

At the front-and-centre of it all, where the spotlights convene, is Taylor Swift herself, having worn over 40 outfits throughout the course of the tour. The 21st century pop icon has built an indestructible empire since the beginning of her musical journey at age 14, so what better runway for her than the stage itself? From enchanted gowns to bejewelled bodysuits, Taylor Swift once again proves that she is never going out of style.

Ladies and gentlemen, will you please stand in a moment of appreciation for these jaw-dropping looks?

Taylor opens with “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince” in a gorgeous custom Versace bodysuit. The bodysuit is styled with a pair of studded, knee-high boots from Christian Louboutin, who is the sole footwear provider for the entire tour. The blue, pink and purple gems are a vibrant rendition of the pastel-hued album artwork for Lover, and she even occasionally adds a different Versace necklace to each ensemble for that extra flair. On some nights, this bodysuit is swapped out for similar ones in blue and gold, or with extravagant purple fringe tassels and beading.

For “The Man”, Taylor shrugs on a sparkly silver or black pinstripe blazer, also Versace, to create a sharper look, kicking her feet up in a laid-back posture to give us a glimpse of Christian Louboutin’s signature red bottoms. To say we are obsessed would be the understatement of the century.

Two other versions of the dress are embellished with Swarovski crystals, and their silver fringes shift and sway as she moves around the stage, with her bedazzled guitar completing the look to perfection. It’s a love story, indeed, between the audience and this stunning outfit.

An alternate look of this segment has been another Etro dress in a bronzed burgundy colour. Abandoning frills and gems for intricate beading and ruffled hems, the pace of the concert slows to a soothing lull as Taylor uses her best colours to paint us a portrait of melodies with her voice.

The Reputation era outfit – are you ready for it?

Taylor brings the lavish, fiery glam back tenfold with a bold, asymmetrical custom Roberto Cavalli bodysuit that features a red snake winding down her leg. Studded with sequins, the black and red ensemble is powerful and unapologetic, and it’s a shame that “Gorgeous” didn’t make it onto the final setlist, because, well, Taylor is so gorgeous that it actually hurts.

This night is sparkling, and so is Taylor as she leaves us wonderstruck in an assortment of sweeping floor-length gowns for the Speak Now segment of the concert.

Some nights, she wears a Zuhair Murad custom gown that resembles a pink supernova with its glittering embellishments; other nights, she dons a Nicole + Felicia bespoke gown adorned with gold sparkles. She has also worn two other Nicole + Felicia gowns, one sparkly and blue, the other layered with varying shades of purple that are a nod to the Speak Now album’s iconic cover graphic.

Two haute couture dresses from Elie Saab have been featured in this set as well, one floral-patterned and taken straight from the Fall/Winter 2022 runway, and another an extravagant tulle gown in pale pink. This set has seen the most variation in outfit, but one thing stays consistent every night: each gown is sure to have you absolutely enchanted.

Everything from this set is custom Ashish, who designed Taylor’s iconic “Not a lot going on at the moment” graphic t-shirt in her “22” music video. The singer transports us back to her “22” days in a similar T-shirt that now says “A lot going on at the moment”, a look she completes with a black fedora from Gladys Tamez. On a different night, the shirt reads “Who’s Taylor Swift anyway? Ew.”, referencing the lyrics from the song; on another, it reads “We are never getting back together, like ever.”.

For “I Knew You Were Trouble”, she removes the shirt to reveal a sparkling red and black ombré romper underneath, and she puts on a floor-length overcoat of a similar design to sing the 10-minute version of “All Too Well”. To bring the soft, rustic sound of this era to life, Taylor dons several flowing pieces from Alberta Ferretti.

First is a lilac dress, with chiffon ruffles and flared sleeves, that sways with every movement. Another, coming in off-white, is the embodiment of grace with its crystal embroidery and layered drapes.

A green dress is given a whimsical touch through ornate embroidered leaves and mesh detailing, whereas a glittering blue one with cape sleeves billows in the wind, so stunning that it’ll have you singing, “I don’t want no other shade of blue but you…”

For her 1989 segment, Taylor brings the sparkles and fringes back to shake it off in a custom Roberto Cavalli top and skirt that recalls her outfit from the 1989 world tour. As of right now, she has worn magenta, blue, orange and green versions of the two-piece set, and there are no doubt more colours to come. At any rate, there’s no bad blood here – only mad love for every iteration of this outfit that has appeared so far.

The drama is once again dialled down for the acoustic set, in which Taylor performs two different surprise songs each show. For “Tim McGraw” on opening night, she wore a ruffled dress with pleats in magenta by Jessica Jones, a designer whom Taylor has worked with many times in the past, including for her Reputation stadium tour. Since then, she has switched the dress out for similar iterations in green, yellow and blue.

For the final era of the concert, Taylor returns with a mighty bang in fur, sparkles and midnight hues galore. She starts the set off in a lavender haze, wearing a custom purple Oscar De La Renta fur coat and loosely-fitted dress with iridescent crystals, paired with black studded knee-high Louboutins.
