I purchased my Rheem air conditioner unit 1.5 years ago. Had I known now at that time what I have learned from owning one, I would not have made the purchase. The unit works fine and runs quiet until it get hot and the unit has to work harder. Then it sounds like a Cessna engine on an airplane and can be heard from a several houses away. It is so loud that at times you have turn the volume up on the TV. Sounds odd but totally true. A neighbor installed the same unit. I can hear their unit a block away. These things are extremely loud. The installer came and checked the unit and said it's fine, the noise is expected. Trane and other A/C I’ll it’s do not perform this way.

Will never buy another from Rheem or Home Depot. Their warranty department lied to us after saying they would give me a refund over the phone and made 4 trips to the store. I had 2 of their tanks leak one at 4 years and the next was just over 3 years, and we bought the second one ourselves. Go with a different brand, trust me.

Installation & SetupCoverage

Rheem did not uphold the warranty, claiming that since the AC company did not file a claim and used a different part, they do not need to cover it. The fact is, a RHEEM part failed. The RHEEM part is under warranty. They should still be replacing the part, and they claim they are not liable. I will not be choosing Rheem products in the future, especially a Rheem AC system, as the warranty will not be upheld.

I had a Rheem 4-ton unit installed a year and a half ago. The unit stopped working over the weekend. I come to find out that the coil needs to be replaced because the refrigerant has leaked out. Now I'm faced with a $2100.00 repair bill for a unit that is only a year and half old. Not what I expected from a quality company.

When I asked if he had the number he said yes and when I asked for the number he replied "you never asked for it." What a jerk!!! He was so rude I ended up hanging up on him and had my husband call back and deal with him because I was so livid with the treatment I had received. If you don't like customer service get a different job!! Rheem should really work a little harder and get better people to represent their company. From that point on any time I needed to speak with a customer service person I spoke with a nice lady who answered my questions and managed to schedule my install without any issues. Hopefully that man got fired or found a job where he does not have to help people because customer service is not a good fit for him.

DO NOT BUY THEIR PRODUCTS! Warranty is a joke! Purchased a brand new water heater 13 months ago and just went out. Had our local plumbing company (they installed it) come out. Now we have been out of hot water for 4 days, and he finds what he thinks is the problem and calls Rheem (because it is still way under warranty, but still have to pay labor costs.

Purchased a Rheem complete system, compressor & Heat pump. Installed 9/2019. First issues started 11/20/2022. Long story, short. Stuck repairing lemon unit. Labor only $ 2,500 00 so far. Licensed installer out of business. Acme refrigeration out of Louisiana fails to back up their product as a Rheem distributor. Rheem says to keep repairing. They will cover parts. NEVER buy Rheem. Only problems for a widowed, senior citizen.

Having issues with one of my 2 units. Customer Service will not honor their warranty and send out a technician to service the problem because of "installation issues." Well I solved it and still not good enough for them. Now I see that 74% of consumers have issues with this company and I see why. If you have a choice, do not buy Rheem!

Brand new equipment, very low performance, poor quality made, no tech support available as many other top name brands like Carrier, Lennox, Trane, and many more, stay away as far as you, can, I would not recommend this to no one. Good luck on your search!

We purchased a new Rheem R96VA0702317MSA High Efficiency Gas Furnace. Our old furnace kept us warm for 50 years. Our home is only a thousand square feet and now with this furnace our home would not go above 66 degrees when the temperature dropped below -30. Our heating company even changed the thermostat, which did nothing, and they did what they could. The lack of efficiency is the Rheem furnace. Imagine a 50 year old furnace outperforming your new technology.
