The B Mat Everyday is 71 by 26 inches, which, at 2 inches wider than a standard size, gives your arms more space. The spongy cushion is 4mm thick, which is dense enough for most poses. If you want less cushion for travel weight, it also comes in 2 and 3mm options; if you want more padding for your joints, it is available in 6 and 10mm cushions. The material is natural rubber, which the company claims is biodegradable. Because of the rubber material, we do not recommend this mat if you have a latex allergy.

Performance Comparison

Comfort and Support

The B Mat looks thin, but the dense rubber is very comfortable and offers spongier padding than many sticky mats while remaining firm for your joints. We tested the 4mm version, which is thinner than some top performers, but the difference is barely noticeable because of the dense, springy material.

We simulated bone compression on each mat by pressing a pen into the yoga mat under the weight of a cinder block. The B Mat has a spongier feel, compressing slightly and quickly rebounding. Our testers appreciated this springy firmness when they pressed weight down into sensitive elbows and knees. Even though this is our top choice for hot yoga, we also love the cushion of this mat for relaxing poses and cooler yin practices. The rubber cushion gracefully walks the line of not too firm but not so soft.

The B Mat is 71 x 26 inches, a little wider than many mats in our lineup. Most yoga mats range from 24 to 26 inches wide; the extra two inches are valuable breathing room for wider wingspans, and we enjoy the extra room to spread out our stance in wide-legged squats. The grippy firmness also provides a solid base for standing sequences. The dense rubber material offers better support than most thin mats when placed on softer grass, sand, or carpet.

Grip

The B Mat requires no break-in period. It is one of the grippiest mats we tested, dry or wet, and our top choice for sweaty hands.

The B Mat was designed in Spain and inspired by a technical material for carpet pads to optimize grip. The open-cell technology is moisture-wicking and non-absorbent, so sweat that doesn't evaporate pools on the mat. Amazingly, the traction remains even when your hand sits in a puddle of sweat during hot yoga. In our tests, we felt our hands could stick in any conditions. In a hot yoga class, you can quickly towel off any moisture on the surface.

The B Mat takes a gold medal for non-slip grip in our tests. Its non-skid texture is highly supportive if you sweat a lot or prefer more friction to engage with for stability. Your feet will not slide out when you press up into a closing backbend like Urdvha Dhanurasana (wheel pose) at the end of a steamy practice. This is also one of our favorite mats to grip for arm balances and handstands. It provides stability because it is one of the highest-performing mats in our lineup for grabbing the floor underneath. During transitions, it won't budge from underneath you or crinkle in the middle.

On the flip side, the non-slip rubber is so grippy that sliding your hands and feet across it between asanas made some of our testers feel stuck, and many changed their practice to step rather than slide. Any asanas that require you to drag a foot or leg quickly across the mat can be uncomfortable if the mat grips the skin. Unless you are a heavy sweater, this mat might be too grippy, especially if you practice styles with frequent gliding transitions like Ashtanga or Vinyasa flows. But for heated practices, this mat is a favorite.

Materials

While grip is this mat's claim to fame, it also has some drawbacks besides discomfort on bare skin. After our testing period, we noticed water stains on the side of the B Mat. Although the grip remained intact after our testing period, our market research indicates that many users report the spaces where you place your hands and feet peeling and the grip diminishing with prolonged use. When the top layer peels away, the grip suffers.

If you have a practice with lots of sliding transitions, consider a more durable mat if you plan to practice rigorously every day. But if you step between your asanas, hold vigorous poses in hot yoga, or get on the mat just a few times a week, the B Mat is a good fit and will endure many more practices.

Ease of Use

Cleaning the B Mat usually involves just a simple wipe-down. We recommend a dry wipe first and then a damp cloth. Since this is a closed-cell mat, it repels body fluids, and you do not need to submerge it for a deep clean. When your mat needs extra care, gently wipe the surface with water-diluted mild detergent and rinse it clean before laying it flat to dry. As it dries, keep the mat out of direct sunlight with the logo side facing up. Avoid harsh chemicals or scrubbing the mat with an abrasive sponge or brush, as they will break down the mat's surface much faster. The manufacturer also offers the pro tip to roll your mat with the logo side facing out to maintain its grip.

One downside to the out-of-this-world grip is that it picks up dirt, hair, and lint like crazy. So we recommend avoiding throwing the B Mat in your trunk or leaving it on the ground. In fact, for cleanliness and durability purposes, we recommend storing it in a yoga mat bag. While it does well in park grass, it is not our first choice for yoga outside.

The B Mat is slightly under four pounds, a good two to four pounds lighter than other versatile award winners. It rolls to 3.5-4 inches in diameter and is light enough to carry to class without much strain on your back. When unpackaging this mat, be prepared for a terrible rubber tire smell. We put the B Mat in an out-of-the-way space away from direct sunlight to off-gas and didn't notice an odor after two days.

Should You Buy the B Yoga B Mat Everyday ?

If your primary concern is grip, then the B Mat should be your top choice. However, the sacrifice of intense grip means sliding transitions can irritate the skin and shorten your yoga mat's lifespan. This is an excellent mat for the price, but if you're dedicated to daily vigorous practice, you may want to spend the extra money for something more durable. Still, this mat is a game-changer for people who sweat or enjoy heated flows.

What Other Yoga Mats Should You Consider?

If you want grip and durability, the Yoloha Unity Cork provides excellent wet grip for hot yoga or sweaty hands. It is more expensive than the B Mat but will likely last much longer. Another good option is the Lululemon The Mat, which absorbs sweat and has a smoother, sticky grip for sliding transitions, making it versatile for any style of yoga. The Iuga Eco Friendly Non Slip is a grippy and well-cushioned sticky mat that is easy to carry at just over 2 pounds. If you are just starting your yoga practice, the Liforme Original has an excellent non-stick surface embossed with an alignment grid to help you navigate posture and form.
